Children's summer art camp registration open

The Washington County Arts Council's multidiscplinary art camp is produced in conjunction with the Washington County Recreation and Parks Department. Children will receive instruction in drawing, painting, sculpting, movement, music and drama, plus some fun crafts. Full day art camp for elementary school level children ages 6 to 12. Mini cheerleading class for kids

SHENANDOAH JUNCTION, W.Va. -- Children ages 3 to 5 will learn the fundamentals of cheerleading including arm motions, voice projection, cheers and dance. Students should be able to attend class without a parent present and be potty trained well enough for a 30-minute class. Pompoms are included in the price of the class. Hands-on pruning workshop

SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. -- Franklin County Master Gardeners will present a hands-on pruning workshop with master gardener Elmer Greey. Greey will discuss pruning considerations, including equipment and techniques, and will offer hands-on practice throughout his extensive property that features more than 600 different species of plants. Participants are urged to dress for the weather and bring a pair of bypass hand pruning shears. 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. Home of Elmer Greey, 8690 Rice Road. $10 per person. Backyard fruit tree workshop

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. -- Hands-on workshop, "Renovating Backyard Fruit Trees." Participants will gain confidence in their pruning technique by practicing proper methods under direct supervision. The workshop will cover pruning tools, training small fruit trees, renovation pruning for larger trees, and insect and disease identification. Preserving your family heirlooms
