Pa. man bound over on attempted murder charges

February 26, 2008

McCONNELLSBURG, Pa. - A Harrisonville, Pa., man charged with attempted murder and other offenses in a Feb. 7 shooting was bound over on the charges following a preliminary hearing Monday in Fulton County Central Court.

Gregory Aaron Rouzer, 40, of 1291 Possum Hollow Road, is also charged with counts of aggravated assault, possession of instruments of crime and criminal trespass in the shooting of Randolph Walters outside Walters' Sipes Mill Road Home, Pennsylvania State Police said.

Walters' girlfriend saw someone hiding behind a shed and Walters went outside armed with a shotgun at about 7:30 a.m., police said. Walters recognized Rouzer and told him to get up and Rouzer shot him three times with a .22-caliber rifle, police said.

Walters was taken to York (Pa.) Hospital and was released several days later, police said. Rouzer was taken into custody Feb. 15 near Chambersburg Hospital, police said.

District Attorney Travis Kendall said Walters was the only person to testify at the hearing.

"That's poorly understood at this point," Kendall said of the reason Rouzer shot Walters.
