CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - The Franklin County Beekeepers' Association is conducting a five-session shor tcourse on beginning beekeeping for any interested beekeepers.
The Thursday evening classroom sessions will be on April 3, 10, 17, and 24, from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Franklin County Extension Office at 181 Franklin Farm Lane in Chambersburg.
There will also be a field day at a local apiary on Saturday, May 3.
The course costs $30 per family. Subjects to be covered include an introdction to beekeeping, bee biology, beekeeping equipment; maintaining healthy bees, installing packages and apiary colony management.
Registration is required and is limited to the first 40. You do not have to be a member of the Franklin County Beekeepers' Association to register. Registration includes a beekeeping manual, disposable gloves, refreshments and membership in the Franklin County Beekeepers' Association.
