Hagerstown man dies in ATV crash in N.Y.

A Hagerstown man died Friday in an all-terrain vehicle accident in upstate New York, police said.

New York State Police said Richard J. Gamache, 24, of Hagerstown, died from massive head trauma after the ATV he was driving overturned in Salem, N.Y., which is in Washington County, N.Y., near the Vermont border.

According to police, neither Gamache nor his passenger, 25-year-old Alexander E. Daniel, of Anaheim, Calif., were wearing helmets. Daniel was taken to Glens Falls (N.Y.) Hospital.

The investigation showed the four-wheeler became airborne and overturned.

No other information was available Sunday.
