Joshua Humelsine, of Hagerstown, has been named to the dean's list at Frostburg State University in Frostburg, Md., for the fall semester.

To be eligible for the dean's list, a student must complete a minimum of 12 credit hours and earn a cumulative grade-point average of at least 3.4 on a 4.0 scale.

Heather Lynn McCleaf has been named to the dean's list at James Madison University in Harrisonburg, Va., for the fall semester.

She is a 2007 graduate of North Hagerstown High School. She is the daughter of Julie and Bobby Doyle of Hagers-town and Robert McCleaf of Berkeley Springs, W.Va.

HARRISONBURG, Va. - Sarah Beth Pryor of Greencastle, Pa., has been named to the dean's list at James Madison University for the fall semester.

To qualify for the dean's list, a student must carry a semester course load of 12 graded credit hours and earn a GPA of 3.500 to 3.899.

She is a 2007 graduate of Greencastle-Antrim High School. Sarah, a freshman, is majoring in marketing. She is the daughter of Bill and Diane Pryor of Greencastle.

RICHMOND, Va. - Erika Frances Jeter, a freshman at Virginia Commonwealth University, has been named to the dean's list for the fall semester with a 4.0 GPA.

She is pursuing a B.A. degree in Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness and a B.S. degree in Criminal Justice.

Jeter, a 2007 graduate of Smithsburg High School, is the daughter of Ronnie and Carola Jeter of Hagerstown, and the granddaughter of Clarence and Celia Cook Sr. and Barbara A. Jeter.

BLACKSBURG, Va. - Jessica Stiles of Boonsboro, Joshua Mitchell of Hagers-town, Mark White of Hagers-town, Nicholas Cronk of Martinsburg, W.Va., and Patrick Welz of Kearneysville, W.Va., were among the Virginia Tech students who were honored at the university's fall commencement ceremony Dec. 14 in Cassell Coliseum.

Approximately 2,500 bachelor's degree, master's degree and Ph.D. candidates along with their families and friends attended the on-campus ceremony presided by Virginia Tech President Charles W. Steger.

Stiles received a Bachelor of Science degree in dairy science from the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences.

Mitchell received a Bachelor of Science in civil engineering from the College of Engineering.

White received a Bachelor of Science degree in computer science from the College of Engineering.

Cronk received a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering degree (magna cum laude) in electrical engineering from the College of Engineering.

Welz received a Bachelor of Arts degree in political science from the College of Liberal Arts and Human Sciences.

BOSTON, Mass. - Cassandra Petty of Smithsburg has been named to the dean's list for the fall semester at Northeastern University.

She is majoring in pharmacy.

DOYLESTOWN, Pa. - Jamie Weddle of Hagerstown was among the more than 80 students who graduated from Delaware Valley College during winter commencement ceremonies held in December.

Weddle received a bachelor's degree in secondary education with a specialization in agriculture.

CUMBERLAND, Md. - The Allegany College of Maryland Foundation has announced the awarding of scholarships to three students from Washington and Frederick counties for the 2007-08 academic year.

Monica Bollinger of Mount Airy, Md., earned the William T. Fridinger D.D.S. Scholarship. She is pursuing a dental hygiene degree. A 1993 graduate of Linganore High School, she also studied at Frederick Commuity College, Bollinger has worked as an office manager and a chiropractic assistant. She and her husband, George, are the parents of two children, Madison and Peyton.

Philip Brown, of Hagerstown, received the William A. Norris Jr. Memorial Scholarship. He is a forestry major. A 2006 graduate of Williamsport High School, he studied for one year at Hagerstown Community College. His work experience includeds Dick's Sporting Goods and Kennedy Fire Protection. He is the son of Greg and Tammy Brown.

Melissa Moser of Boonsboro received The Dental Scholarship. She is earning a dental hygiene degree.

A certified dental assistant for more than 23 years, she also studied part-time for four years at Hagerstown Community College after her 1985 graduation from Boonsboro High School. She is the mother of two sons, Lionel Jr. and Evan Moser.

Caleb Nathaniel O'Haver Mooney of Funkstown has been named to the dean's list for the fall semester at Hood College in Frederick, Md.

BLACKSBURG, Va. - The following students enrolled at Virginia Tech were named to the dean's list for the fall semester:

Holly E. Kays, Fairplay, is a freshman majoring in natural resources conservation in the College of Natural Resources.

David W. Macht, Hagers-town, is a senior majoring in management in the Pamplin College of Business.

David T. McGinley, of Hagerstown, is a freshman majoring in general engineering in the College of Engineering.

Mark R. White, of Hagers-town, is a senior majoring in computer science in the College of Engineering.

SALISBURY, Md. - Some 21 Washington County students were named to the dean's list at Salisbury University for the fall semester.

Clear Spring area students include David Courter and Kayla Semler.

Hagerstown area students include Brittany Beard, Laura Browning, Katie Buchanan, Lindsey Fuller, Hillary Grove, William Kerns, Brian Klitch, Sarah Long, Erin Matonak, Amy Matonak, Samantha Schweinhart, Kirsten Sundstrom and Eric Ware.

Other county area students include Amanda Durski of Cascade; and Jessica Cline of Williamsport.
