ARNOLD, Md. - Latoya Buckner had 21 points and three blocks to help top-seeded Hagerstown Community College earn an opening-round victory at the Maryland JuCo Conference Tournament at Anne Arundel.

The Hawks made 5-of-6 from the free throw line in the final 1:30 to hold off Montgomery-Rockville.

Alicia Myers had 17 points, Cara Thompson had 10 points and 11 rebounds and Teonna Jewell had six assists for the Hawks (24-3), who play the Garrett-Dundalk winner today at 3 p.m. at Anne Arundel.

SHALLOTTE, N.C. - Roland Thiele had two hits, including a two-run homer, and three RBI to help Hagerstown Community College top Brunswick (N.C.) 10-5 and split a season-opening doubleheader.

Matt Byers had two hits and two RBI, Alex Stover had two hits and and RBI and Jacob Darr had two hits for the Hawks (1-1).

Matt Greene led Hagerstown with two hits, including a solo home run, in the first game.
