Prom dress swap and sale set for Saturday in Boonsboro

BOONSBORO - Attention shoppers! If you're in the market for a prom dress or formalwear, bargains are to be had at the Frocks and Fellowship dress sale and swap at Trinity Lutheran Church, at 64 S. Main St. in Boonsboro.

On Saturday, the church is hosting a Frocks and Fellowship fundraiser to benefit its Youth Ministry.

The formal/party dress sale and swap runs from 9 a.m. to noon. The $5 admission price includes brunch from 10 to 11 a.m.

The idea for the event came from youth member Laurin Smith, who said she and her mother talked about how many party and formal dresses Laurin had in her closet and probably would never wear again.

Laurin said she and her friend, Rebecca Rockwell, thought it would be fun to get a group of friends together and try on each other's dresses.

The sale was a logical progression from there.

"I've been thinking about it for awhile. We just decided we needed to do it," Laurin Smith said.

She said a selection of long- and cocktail-length dresses have come in and she would welcome more, either as donations or to be sold on consignment.

"I'm very pleased with the selection," Laurin said.

New and gently used party, prom and formal dresses of all colors and sizes for girls in grades 6 to 12 will be on sale. Try-on rooms will be available.
