Man stabbed in leg in Hagerstown

HAGERSTOWN -- A man was stabbed in the leg Sunday night in the area of the Washington Gardens Apartments complex, Hagerstown Police said.

The victim said he was walking between an office building on Security Road and building 1002 at about 10:20 p.m. when a man came up from behind and stabbed him in the left calf, Hagerstown Police Officer Michelle Deavers said.

Deavers described the injury as a "minor cut."

The victim did not know the suspect, Deavers said.

The suspect was described as a black man, about 5 feet 9 inches tall, about 160 pounds, wearing a dark hooded coat and a toboggan cap, she said.

Brick thrown through school bus window in Pa.

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. -- Troopers Sunday were investigating damage to a Chambersburg school district school bus, Pennsylvania State Police said.


Someone threw a brick through the bus window, troopers said in a news release.

Fugitive from Delaware captured in Pa.

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. -- Troopers on Sunday took a fugitive from Delaware into custody, Pennsylvania State Police said.

Police from Letterkenny Army Depot in Greene Township, Pa. called troopers about Carlos Manual Fernandez, 30, who was wanted out of Delaware for burglary charges, troopers said in a news release.

Firefighters respond to Pa. stove fire

ROUZERVILLE, Pa. -- Firefighters were called to the 13000 block of Villa View Drive at approximately 2:30 p.m. Saturday.

The fire, which started in an electric stove, had been extinguished by the time the firefighters arrived, according to Jim Meek, fire chief of the Blue Ridge Fire & Rescue Squad.

Police investigating attempted theft in Pa.

GREENCASTLE, Pa. -- Pennsylvania State Police are investigating the attempted theft of a set of forklift extensions from a storage area in Antrim Township Feb. 7, the department said in a news release.

A patrolling trooper saw a suspicious vehicle near the area, in the 13700 block of Molly Pitcher Highway, at about 9:30 p.m., police said. A 21-year-old Waynesboro, Pa., man at the scene said he was working for the owner of the equipment, but the owner later said he did not know the man, police said. The equipment is worth about $1,500, police said.

Man wanted in Va. on child rape charge arrested in Frederick hotel

FREDERICK, Md. (AP) -- Federal officials say a man wanted in Virginia in the rape of a child was arrested at a Frederick hotel.

Members of the Greenbelt (Md.) division of the U.S. Marshals Service Capital Area Regional Fugitive Task Force arrested 37-year-old Andre Alexander Williams at the Econo Lodge hotel Friday morning.

Matt Burke, the supervisor and inspector of the Maryland division of the task force, says Williams was apparently visiting his girlfriend in Frederick. He says Williams was taken to the federal courthouse in Greenbelt to appear on drug charges.

Williams had just finished serving a state sentence for drug trafficking, when he was charged by authorities in Greene County, Va., with raping a child younger than 13.
