Phoenix Color Corp. announced Tuesday that it has signed a plan of merger with Visant Corp., a company based in New York.
The $219 million deal should close by the end of the first quarter of 2008, according to a Visant Corp. press release.
Visant is a marketing and publishing services enterprise that serves primarily the trade, professional reference and educational segments.
Phoenix Color will operate as a wholly owned subsidiary of Visant after the proposed merger.
Spokespeople for both Phoenix Color in Hagerstown and Visant in Armonk, N.Y., declined to comment Thursday on the proposed merger.
