Man with gun robs Charles Town motel

February 15, 2008

CHARLES TOWN, W.Va. -- A man with a blue bandanna covering his face and carrying a handgun robbed the Knights Inn at 907 E. Washington St. Wednesday night, a Jefferson County Sheriff's Department spokesman said.

The man forced two clerks to lie on the floor and left the motel with a cash drawer, Lt. Dave Colbert said.

The man also demanded to have access to a safe, but the motel does not have one, Colbert said.

The clerks were not injured in the robbery, which occurred about 8:30 p.m., Colbert said.

The man may have left in a sport utility vehicle, Colbert said.

The man was described as being white, about 6 feet tall and being in his mid-20s. He was wearing a blue hooded sweat shirt, Colbert said.
