Monday, Feb. 18, 1 p.m., Local 171 Union Hall, Maugans Avenue, north of Hagerstown. Jean Thomas, stroke care specialist, will address the retirees at the meeting. Bring canned goods for the food bank. All Local 171, UAW retirees and Local 842 retirees are invited.

STATE LINE, Pa. -- Thursday, Feb. 21, 7 p.m., State Line Ruritan Building. The program will be "Show and Tell: Around the World." Each person is asked to bring an item from a foreign country to describe and display.

Daffodil Days

Monday, March 10, to Sunday, March 16. The American Cancer Society is accepting orders for daffodils. Supporters who donate $10 will receive a bouquet of fresh-cut daffodils. Supporters who donate $25 will receive a bouquet of daffodils and Bea R. Hope, a special Boyds Bear designed exclusively for this event. Orders must be placed by Wednesday, Feb. 20. Proceeds help fund research and educate people about the importance of cancer prevention. Call 800-787-4337.

Sweethearts' dance

WAYNESBORO, Pa. -- Saturday, Feb. 16, 8 p.m. to midnight, Eagles Club, 22 E. Main St. Phantom Shadow will provide music. Entertainment includes dancing, games, prizes, food and a cash bar. Each couple will receive a special sweethearts' gift and one couple will receive a romantic dinner at Rolling Mill Tavern in Waynesboro. Tickets cost $10 each or $15 per couple and are available at Antietam Humane Society, 8513 Lyons Road, Waynesboro, or can be reserved by calling the shelter at 717-762-9091.

'A Raisin in the Sun'

BALTIMORE -- Thursday, Feb. 21, 6:30 p.m., Historic Senator Theatre. The Black United Fund of Greater Maryland and Sisters in Spirit Book Club along with other organizations are hosting the only East Coast screening of Lorraine Hansberry's "A Raisin in the Sun," featuring the Broadway cast including P. Indoor yard sale

Forget-Me-Not Memory Gala

Saturday, Feb. 23, 7 to 11 p.m., Fountain Head Country Club, Hagerstown. Tickets cost $75 per person and include heavy appetizers and drink tickets. This year's theme is "Dancing Stars of Washington County." Six couples from the Washington County area have been chosen to dance for "votes," which cost $1 each and are tax-deductible.
