Margaret Lowery said Thursday that she was encouraged by the results of Tuesday's primary election.
Lowery, a candidate for the Washington County Board of Education, finished sixth and will advance to the November general election.
Lowery did not comment for an article in Wednesday's Herald-Mail because she could not be reached.
"(I) wanted to thank those who voted for me," she said Thursday.
Lowery said she was looking forward to meeting with Washington County residents and sharing her vision for a "broad range of school system concerns."
