GREENCASTLE, Pa. -- Marjorie Louise Cottle Johnson, 79, of 450 W. Walter Ave., and formerly of Columbia, Md., died Wednesday, Feb. 13, 2008, at her home.

Born March 11, 1928, in Hopewell, Pa., she was the daughter of the late John Cottle and Della May Ritchey Cottle Smith.

She was employed by Marriott Corporation at the Gould Tower office in Rolling Meadows, Ill., retiring in 1995.

She was a member of Mount Prospect (Ill.) Methodist Church.

She was active in school PTA.

She is survived by her husband, Joseph M. Johnson, whom she married June 10, 1949; one daughter, Ruthann Jenkins of Columbia; one son, Joseph Johnson of Greencastle; one sister, Mildred C. Minnick of Wasilla, Alaska; three brothers, Richard J. Cottle, Rodney R. Cottle and Benjamin R. Cottle, all of Wasilla; and four grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by one son, Michael M. Johnson; one sister, Betty C. LePors; and one brother, Gerald C. Cottle.

NEW OXFORD, Pa. -- Marvin D. Strite, 62, of New Oxford, died Wednesday, Feb. 13, 2008, at his residence.

He was the husband of Edna M. Mellinger Strite.

He was born Dec. 4, 1945, in Hagerstown, Md., the son of Anna G. Hostetter Strite of New Oxford and the late C. Merle Strite.

He was a member of Kralltown Mennonite Church in East Berlin, Pa., where he served as deacon.

He worked for 34 years at H&S Supply in New Oxford and for 4 1/2 years for Mar-Bar in Hanover.

In addition to his wife and mother, he is survived by daughter, Barbara, wife of Curtis Van Pelt, of Salem, Ohio; daughter, Arlene, wife of Andrew Lehman, of Leetonia, Ohio; daughter, Carol, wife of Arlin Steiner, of Columbiana, Ohio; son, Daniel Strite and his wife, Christa, of Wellsville, Pa.; daughter, Irene, wife of Michael Hostetter, of New Oxford; son, Simeon Strite of New Oxford; 18 grandchildren; three brothers, Milton L. Strite of Greencastle, Pa., Lewis M. Strite of McDowell, Va., and Amos L. Strite of Belen, N.M.; and one sister, Rosa A. Zehr of Croghan, N.Y.

Funeral services will be Monday, Feb. 18, 2008, at 10 a.m. at Kralltown Mennonite Church, 6719 Davidsburg Road, East Berlin, with Bishop Elvin Rohrer, Minister Terry Dougherty, Minister Reuben Derstine and Deacon Titus Rohrer officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

A viewing will be Sunday, Feb. 17, 2008, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. at the church. Everyone is welcome to attend the viewing and funeral.

Dorothy C. Watson, 95



JAN. 24, 1913-FEB. 12, 2008

Dorothy Carr Sims Watson, 95, of 20927 Mount Aetna Road in Hagerstown, Md., passed away Tuesday, Feb. 12, 2008, at Washington County Hospital in Hagerstown.

Born Friday, Jan. 24, 1913, in Syracuse, N.Y., she was the daughter of the late Floyd Franklin Carr and the late Charlotte Ferris Carr.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, D. LaVern Sims, and later by her second husband, Malcolm R. Watson.

She was a 1931 graduate of Eastwood High School in Syracuse, and later attended Syracuse Business School.

She was employed as an office manager by the New York State Department of Transportation, retiring in 1978.

She was a member of Westvale Seventh-day Adventist Church in Syracuse, and volunteered with the Coast Guard Auxiliary and the American Red Cross.

She is survived by three daughters, Barbara Jeanne Schmidt of Tustin, Calif., Carol Ann Thomas of Hagerstown, and Nancy Eileen Clark of Mexico, N.Y.; nine grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by sisters, Virginia McCue Rohrig and Charlotte Russell Cromie; and one great-granddaughter, Cherie Caramae Caviness.

A private memorial service will be held and interment in Syracuse.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Westvale Seventh-day Adventist Church, 2511 W. Genesee St., Syracuse, NY 13219.

Dorothy May (La Rue) Riker, 98, of Hagerstown, Md., died Tuesday, Feb. 12, 2008, at the Golden Living Center, formerly Beverly Healthcare, in Hagerstown.

Born May 13, 1909, in Harpers Ferry, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Columbus Marion and Martha Anna (Roeder) La Rue.

She was the wife of the late Harry F. Riker, who died in 1983.
