Donoghue attends county delegation meeting

February 14, 2008|By ANDREW SCHOTZ

ANNAPOLIS - After skipping the Washington County delegation's first three meetings of the session, Del. John P. Donoghue attended the fourth, and possibly final, meeting on Wednesday.

After missing the first delegation meeting last month, Donoghue, D-Washington, said he didn't plan to attend any of them and listen to "Delegate (Christopher B.) Shank spout off on the topic of the day."

At the time, Del. LeRoy E. Myers, R-Washington/Allegany, the delegation chairman, called Donoghue's explanation for missing meetings "unacceptable."

Subsequently, Shank, R-Washington, offered to reconcile with Donoghue so they could at least work together on issues that are important to the county.

Then, Donoghue said last week he held "no ill will" toward Shank.

On Wednesday, Donoghue attended and took part as delegation members discussed possible changes to two bills previously filed on behalf of the county.

Myers said no more delegation meetings are scheduled this session.
