Pa. man faces child porn charges

February 13, 2008

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - A man charged with three felony counts of possession of child pornography waived his preliminary hearing Tuesday in Franklin County Central Court.

Daniel Diaz, 32, of 3300 Waynecastle Road, Greencastle, Pa., was charged by the Pennsylvania Attorney General's Office with possessing pornographic videos and images of children younger than 18 on a laptop computer. The downloaded videos and pictures were discovered after Diaz was charged Sept. 28 with unlawful contact with a minor and criminal use of a communication facility, court records stated.

The Child Predator Unit of the Attorney General's Office investigated the case, using a national database of images that have previously been identified by law enforcement agencies as involving real children, according to the affidavit of probable cause.

Diaz is scheduled for mandatory arraignment on the charges April 2 in Franklin County Court, Assistant Public Defender Paul Rockwell said.
