Cindel Marie Young has been named to the dean's list at Shippensburg University for the fall semester. It is the second semester in succession that she has received this honor.

She is majoring in early childhood education. She plays center on the Shippensburg Raiders volleyball team.

She is the daughter of Tammy and Steve Young of McConnellsburg, Pa. She is a graduate of Broadfording Christian Academy.

Megan Elizabeth Gullace, daughter of Jim and Karen Gullace of Hagerstown, has been named to the dean's list for the fall semester at Elon University in Elon, N.C.

The dean's list is composed of students with no grade below a B-minus and a grade-point average of at least 3.4 in a minimum of 12 semester hours.

COLUMBIA, S.C. - Ryan Lipella, son of Ronald and JoAnn Lipella of Smithsburg, was named to the dean's list at the University of South Carolina in Columbia for the fall semester.


He is a 2006 graduate of St. Maria Goretti High School in Hagerstown.

Lipella, a sophomore, is a recipient of the Woodrow Scholars Award in the Baccalaureate Program of the Moore School of Business majoring in business administration. Lipella carries a 3.75 grade-point average.

As a result of his academic achievement, he is a member of the National Society of Collegiate Scholars and the National Dean's List, an honor bestowed only to the top one percent of college students. He has also been nominated to participate in the 2008 International Scholar Laureate Program Delegation Business. He is also a member of the Alpha Lambda Delta National Honor Society.

Eric R. Spielman has been named to the dean's list for the fall semester at St. Mary's College of Maryland.

He is a junior majoring in political science and is a 2005 graduate of Williamsport High School.

He is the son of Gary and Donna Spielman and the grandson of Virginia Benningfield and Janet Carmaleta Spielman.

Amy C. Landsman has been named to the dean's list for the fall semester at Lynchburg College in Lynchburg, Va.

Landsman is a freshman in the Westover Honors Program, majoring in elementary education and minoring in English.

She is a 2007 graduate of Boonsboro High School, and is the daughter of Jerry and Catherine Landsman of Boonsboro.

LEXINGTON, Va. - Adam Tyler Hockensmith, a senior at Washington and Lee University, has earned honor roll status for the recently completed fall term.

He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Ricky A. Hockensmith of Hagerstown.

Honor roll status at Washington and Lee represents a term-grade average of 3.75 on a 4.0 scale.

Kara Wastler has been named to the dean's list at Frostburg State University, Frostburg, Md., for outstanding academic achievement for the fall 2007 semester.

Wastler, a 2004 graduate of Boonsboro High School, is working toward a major in health and physical education. She is the daughter of Jan and Brian Wastler of Sharpsburg.
