CUMBERLAND, Md. -- Latoya Buckner scored 16 of her 20 points in the second half, but Hagerstown Community College fell 74-58 to Allegany College in a nonconference meeting Friday night.
The Hawks trailed by 12 in the second half and cut the deficit to six with about 8 minutes left in the game. But two poorly timed HCC fouls -- both as the shot clock was running out on Allegany -- in a 24-second span helped Allegany push the margin back to 11 points.
"We just never recovered from those fouls," HCC coach Marlys Palmer said. "We had two things we had to take care of: Rebounding and foul shooting, and we didn't take care of either."
The Hawks (22-2) were fair from the foul line, going 13-for-18 (72 percent), but were outrebounded by Allegany, 41-31.
Cara Thompson had 10 points and five assists and Shaushanna Faulkner had eight points and nine rebounds for HCC.
