Forget-Me-Not Memory Gala scheduled



Alzheimer's Association will host its fifth annual Forget-Me-Not Memory Gala from 7 to 11 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 23, at Fountain Head Country Club in Hagerstown. Tickets cost $75 per person and includes appetizers and drink tickets.

This year's theme is "Dancing Stars of Washington County." Six couples from the Washington County area are learning the progressive waltz and the salsa dances to which they will perform at the gala for votes. Each vote equals $1. Voting will take place on the Web before the gala, as well. The dancers are Vicki and Wayne Creek, Jenny and Danny Fleming, Tammy and Mark Siegirst, Pam and Steve Springer, Chris Vores and Karen Ziska, and Scott Hershberger and Anita Killcrece.

Proceeds will support Alzheimer's Association core services.

Time to order daffodils



Maryland residents have until Wednesday, Feb. 20, to place requests for daffodils during the American Cancer Society's Daffodil Days. For a donation of $10, supporters will receive a bouquet of fresh-cut daffodils and the knowledge that they are helping defeat cancer. This year also marks the addition of Bea R. Hope, a special Boyds Bear designed exclusively for the American Cancer Society's Daffodil Days Bear and a Bunch that is available for $25, which includes a bouquet of 10 daffodils.

Women Build meeting



The Women Build Program of Habitat for Humanity of Washington County will meet at 6 p.m. Monday, Feb. 11, at Oliver's Restaurant at Longmeadow Shopping Center in Hagerstown. The group is planning to build the third Women Build house in Washington County this September. All interested women are welcome to attend this meeting. Funds are being raised for this project. Friends of Legal Services seeks book donations



CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Franklin County Friends of Legal Services is accepting any used or new books for its 23rd annual book sale. Donate books through Monday, April 21, at the following Chambersburg-area locations:

· First floor of Edgar Hall on the Wilson College campus

· Franklin County Legal Services, 80 N. Second St., Chambersburg

· Arthur's Deli, 3385 Wayne Road, New Franklin, Pa.

· Quincy, Pa., branch of First National Bank of Greencastle
