MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - The Berkeley County Sheriff's Department is investigating the death of a man found Friday night in his pickup truck in a commuter parking lot at the Falling Waters, W.Va., exit for Interstate 81.

The man was identified as Clarence Oscar "C.J." Green Jr., 38, of Frederick County, Md.

"The cause of death is still under investigation and this is being treated as a homicide until a ruling from the (West Virginia) Medical Examiner's Office in Charleston ..." Sheriff's Department Deputy Lt. Gary Harmison said Monday in a press release.

Green's fiance, Karen Mohler of Brunswick, Md., said he will be missed.

"He was a wonderful person and he was loved very much by his family," Mohler said Monday. She declined to comment further because of the pending investigation.

Green appeared to have a black eye and was found on the seat in his black Ford pickup truck in the park and ride off Exit 23. Police were dispatched to the vehicle at 5:27 p.m., said Harmison, who is the sheriff's department's Criminal Investigation Division's lead investigator.

Harmison said there was some blood in the truck, but declined to elaborate on exactly where.

Charlie Keene Jr., who said he knew Green for three or four years through a family relationship, said Green supposedly was giving someone a ride home and never came back.

Keene said Green worked as a mason.

Anyone who may have been in contact with Green Thursday or Friday may call the Berkeley County Sheriff's Department at 304-267-7000.
