Hagerstown streets closed for lateral work

February 05, 2008

Today and Wednesday, workers from the City of Hagerstown's Water and Sewer Department will be replacing service laterals at various locations on Florida Avenue between Linganore and Stratford avenues.

In order to allow the crews to excavate the street to replace the laterals, segments of Florida Avenue between Linganore and Stratford avenues will be closed to all traffic. Motorists will be forced to detour around the closures using other city streets. Motorists approaching the work zones will encounter cones, barricades, detour signs and other traffic-control devices.

The work is expected to be completed and the street reopened to traffic by Thursday at 4:30 p.m.

Emergency vehicles will not be able to pass through the work zones on the days work is being done.
