Take a trip on the Orient Express and never leave Pennsylvania

SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. - Cumberland Valley School of Music will host its 13th annual Elegant Dinner Dance at 6 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 23, at Beistle Corp. ballroom in Shippensburg. This year's theme is "Orient Express," celebrating the cuisine and culture of some of the exotic cities the world-famous train traveled through as it made its way from London through Paris, Munich, Vienna, Budapest and Belgrade to Istanbul.

The black tie optional evening features food prepared by seven of the area's chefs and music provided by Kenny I Orchestra from Philadelphia.

CVSM faculty and students will perform as guests arrive.

There will be a raffle of fine jewelry and a silent auction of more than 50 items, including a private flight from Hagerstown to New York City for a special dinner; one-week vacation on Beaver Lake in Eureka Springs, Ark.; a night's lodging at several hotels; golf packages; several gift certificates for dinners at area restaurants; music performances by professional musicians and more.


There will be a selection of side dishes, a bread and salad station, and desserts. Wine, beer and sodas will be sold. This year a selection of premium wines and champagne will be available.

Chefs participating include M.L. Carroll from The Lodge at Blue Ridge Summit; Roger Tappen from Roger Tappen's Simply Elegant Catering; Cindy Miley and Karin Fitz from Main Street Deli; Kathy Pugh from Kathy's Deli; Monica Kelso from A Taste of Thyme; Mike Tosten from Franklin County Career and Technology Center - Culinary Arts; and Ty Davidson of T-N-T Connection.

Tickets cost $100 or $700 for a table of eight.
