The Shepherd University baseball team was picked to win the West Virginia Conference's Northern Division this season.
West Virginia State is the favorite to claim the conference championship as the Yellow Jackets were the top pick on 6 of the 14 ballots returned by league head coaches. Concord earned three first-place votes, while Shepherd and Pitt-Johnstown got two nods each and Alderson-Broaddus received the final vote for the top position.
West Virginia Conference baseball will split into three divisions this season as Seton Hill is added to the league schedule. Shepherd is picked first in the Northern Division, followed by Pitt-Johnstown, West Liberty State, Seton Hill and Wheeling Jesuit.
West Virginia Wesleyan is the pick to claim the Central Division. Alderson-Broaddus, Fairmont State, Davis & Elkins and Salem International round out the division.
