Jordan Spidel, son of Jeff and Vickie Spidel of St. Thomas, Pa., has been promoted to the rank of sergeant in the U.S. Army Infantry.

Spidel is serving a 15-month deployment in Baghdad, Iraq with the 2nd Stryker Cavalry Regiment. Spidel is a 2001 graduate of James Buchanan High School.

Derek F. Bartlett, son of Keith G. and Elizabeth A. Bartlett of New Market, Md., has graduated from the Army ROTC (Reserve Officers' Training Corps) Leader Development and Assessment Course, also known as "Operation Warrior Forge," at Fort Lewis, Tacoma, Wash. The ROTC cadet has been commissioned as a second lieutenant in the Army.

Bartlett is a 2004 graduate of Linganore High School, Frederick, Md.

Army Pfc. Dustin B. Fries, son of Warren Fries of Middletown, Md., and Debi Norris of Mustang, Okla., has graduated from Basic Combat training at Fort Sill, Lawton, Okla.


Fries is a 2004 graduate of Moore High School, Okla.

Air National Guard Airman 1st Class Shawn D. Green, son of Cheryl Green of Greencastle, Pa., has graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio.

Air Force Airman Keith W. Gamber, son of Tim and Cindy Gamber of Chambersburg, Pa., has graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio.

Gamber is a 2007 graduate of Shalom Christian Academy, Chambersburg.

Navy Ensign Kyle M. Fitzpatrick, son of Kandys G. and John Fitzpatrick of Mount Airy, Md., was recently commissioned upon graduation from the Naval Reserve Officer Training Corps (NROTC) Program at Naval Reserve Officers Training Corps Unit, Tulane University, New Orleans, La.

Fitzpatrick is a 2003 graduate of Linganore High School, Frederick, Md.

Air Force Capt. Christopher J. Bradley, son of Curtis and Bonnie Bradley of Laurel, Mont., and his wife, Janene, daughter of Frank and Joyce Pereira of Hagers-town, has graduated from the U.S. Air Force Test Pilot School at Edwards Air Force Base, Rosamond, Calif.

Students who are selected to attend this highly competitive school consider it an honor to be a graduate of the training. Graduates serve on active flying duty status in support of Air Force flight test programs.

Bradley is a flight test engineer with nine years of military service.

Bradley graduated in 1995 from Laurel High School, Mont., and received a bachelor's degree in 1999 from the Rose Hulman Institute of Technology, Terre Haute, Ind. He earned a master's degree in 2001 from the Air Force Institute of Technology, Wright Patterson Air Force Base, Ohio.
