On Jan. 24, at the Washington County Arts Council on West Washington Street, Hagerstown, Julie Gaver was the first guest speaker in a series sponsored by the Alumni Association of Leadership Washington County.

Gaver, a member of Leadership Washington County Class XXI, has been speaking professionally nationwide for the past 17 years. Her session for leadership alumni on Jan. 24 was titled "Making the Connection."

Billed as a fun and highly interactive session, attendees were provided with tips for improving networking savvy when attending conferences, meetings and other business functions.

"Learning useful tips for establishing rapport with others, enhancing listening and conversational skills, and demonstrating good social etiquette are things that even the most seasoned professional can benefit from," said Cindy Kalkbrenner, executive director of Leadership Washington County. "Plus, Julie made it so much fun!"
