Icy roads lead to accidents in Tri-State today

January 29, 2008

Icy roads in West Virginia and Pennsylvania caused several accidents this morning, but no major injuries were reported, emergency dispatchers said.

Several multivehicle accidents were reported in Morgan County, W.Va., an emergency services dispatcher said. A vehicle on Martinsburg Road had overturned, but no major injuries were reported, he said.

In Franklin County, Pennsylvania State Police were responding to seven or eight accidents, an emergency services dispatcher said.

Black ice had made the morning's commute treacherous, he said.

Public schools in Morgan County, W.Va., were closed today due to icy road conditions, school officials announced. Schools in Central Fulton and Southern Fulton districts in Pennsylvania and in Berkeley and Jefferson counties in West Virginia were on two-hour delay.
