At least 11 vehicles, including one that was occupied, were struck in Hagerstown's South End early Sunday by a man who eventually was apprehended on foot by Hagerstown City Police officers.

Nigel Carroll Reeder, 21, of 345 N. Potomac St., was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, driving while impaired by alcohol, reckless driving and numerous counts of leaving the scene of an unattended and an attended accident, according to Sgt. Mark Holtzman.

The incident started just before 2 a.m. Sunday when a 1989 Chevrolet Camaro struck four parked cars in the 600 block of South Potomac Street, police said. After that, the Camaro hit four more cars in the 700 block of South Potomac Street, police said.

The Camaro went on to hit an occupied vehicle in the 800 block of South Potomac Street, police said.

At that point, two passengers in the Camaro got out of the vehicle, police said.

The Camaro then turned west onto Wilson Boulevard, struck two more vehicles and the driver got out of the car and fled on foot, police said.

Reeder was taken into custody in an alley near Maryland Avenue, police said.

Holtzman said Reeder was charged but not jailed.

Police said no one was injured.

The two passengers were interviewed by police but weren't charged with any offenses because they were just getting a ride home with the driver, Holtzman said.
