January 22, 2008

This year's AJ Hartman 4-H Memorial Scholarship recepients are Jessica Hafer of Greencastle, Pa., and Jaclyn Upperman of Chambersburg, Pa. They each received a $500 scholarship at the 4-H beef roundup.

Jessica is the daughter of Jennifer Rotz of Greencastle. She is attending Kaplan College majoring in criminal justice.

Jessica, a three-year 4-H member, said about her years in 4-H, "By spending time with my fellow members I have learned family and friendship values that are important everywhere you go ? they have taught me respect, responsibility, and how helping others will come back to help you."

Jaclyn is the daughter of Steve and Jane Upperman and is attending Shenandoah University in the Nursing program.

Jaclyn, an 11-year 4-H member, said about her 4-H experiences, "The most important character trait that I learned from 4-H was working with people ? whether it was learning showmanship and competition values or experiencing the difference in family life as I traveled and lived with my host families on 4-H exchanges."
