TOWSON, Md. - St. Maria Goretti defeated Calvert Hall at home on Friday but couldn't match the win on the road Sunday in a 65-57 loss to the Cardinals in a Baltimore Catholic League contest.

Calvert Hall (10-9, 2-3) held a 33-29 lead at halftime and stretched the lead to 13 in the third period with the help of three key Goretti turnovers.

The Gaels (9-10, 3-6) got the deficit whittled down to three late in the final period before falling short.

John Duhring had 18 points and Mitch Belella had a season-high 16 points for Goretti.


No. 1 Waynesboro 59, Fairfield 22

WAYNESBORO, Pa. - Waynesboro returned to the victory column with an easy win over Fairfield on Saturday.

Mallory Wishard led the Maidens (15-2) with 19 points and seven rebounds. Gillian Hollen tallied 14 points and Jenna Lininger had nine assists and three steals.

So. Fulton 44, Hancock 20


WARFORDSBURG, Pa. - Brooke Whiteside scored 20 points to match Hancock's output as Southern Fulton (10-4) broke away from a 21-17 halftime lead on Saturday.

Whiteside hit four 3-pointers and also had four steals. Brandy Jenkins had seven points for Hancock (5-9).


Daniels leads Blue Storm

OWINGS MILLS, Md. - Mercersburg Academy's Marshall Daniels won the 100 butterfly in 53.79 seconds and swam legs of the winning 200 medley relay (1:38.47) and 200 freestyle relay (1:28.84) as the Blue Storm tied McDonogh 85-85 on Saturday.

The Mercersburg girls fell 105-59 to McDonogh. Keirsten Bell won the 200 freestyle in 1:58.39 for the Blue Storm.


Mercersburg at Lavino Relays

LAWRENCEVILLE, N.J. - Mercersburg Academy's Asia Walker, Whitney Matthew, Deborah Adjibaba and Kayleigh Kiser set a school record in the girls 800-meter relay Saturday at the 36th annual Lavino Relays, placing sixth in 1:50.4.

The Blue Storm's sprint medley relay team of Adjibaba (200), Walker (200), Matthew (400) and Lena Finucane (800) placed sixth in 4:32.0.

For the Mercersburg boys, the distance medley relay team of James Finucane (1,200), Fleet White (400), Pat Morgan (800) and Nebiyu Osman (1,600) placed fifth in 11:06.9.
