TAKOMA PARK, Md. - Kelvin Bright scored 29 points, including 10-of-13 shooting from the free-throw line, to pace Hagerstown Community College to a Maryland JuCo victory.

The Hawks used a 7-0 run with about six minutes left to gain a nine-point lead.

Hagerstown stepped up its defensive intensity with seven blocks from John Long and nine total steals. Long also had 20 points and 14 rebounds.

Sheridan Price had 12 points and 10 rebounds, Will Taylor had nine points and 12 rebounds and Q'Monte Matheny had 10 points for the Hawks (13-4, 6-2).




Shepherd finishes eighth, Wallace on All-America second team

Shepherd University finished eighth in the final 2007 Top 25 Media Poll, released Thursday. The Rams finished 13th in the final American Football Coaches Association Division II Coaches' Poll.

Senior running back Dervon Wallace was selected to the All-America second team.

Wallace, a two-time West Virginia Conference Offensive Player of the Year, rushed for a WVIAC record 2,138 yards in 2007. He led the Rams to the Division II quarterfinals and established a new league scoring mark with 464 career points. He led Division II in all-purpose yards per game (222.8), was second in rushing yards per game (178.3), third in total rushing yards (2,138) and fifth in scoring (13.2 points per game).
