Hagerstown Bridal Show scheduled



The Main Event and Breast Cancer Awareness Cumberland Valley will present the Hagerstown Bridal Show on Sunday, Jan. 20, at Clarion Hotel and Conference Center, Antietam Creek, 901 Dual Highway, Hagers-town. Doors open at noon, fashion show begins at 2 p.m. BCA Cumberland Valley will receive 100 percent of the admission fees. Admission costs $3. Adopt a Humane Society pet at Petco



The Humane Society of Washington County and the local branch of the national pet supply retailer Petco announce the beginning of a collaborative pet adoption campaign.

Every second Saturday of the month from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., the Humane Society of Washington County will bring adoptable dogs to the store at 18235 Cole Road in Hagerstown. The public is encouraged to visit the store and meet the canine companions, which are available at the shelter.

Symposium for the prevention of child abuse



The Mid-Atlantic Exchange Clubs' Foundation for the Prevention of Child Abuse will hold a symposium on child abuse from 8:30 a.m. to noon Saturday, Jan. 26, at Sleep Inn, Md. 65 behind Cracker Barrel in Hagerstown.

The expert panel includes John H. McDowell, judge of Washington County Circuit Court; Gina Cirincion, assistant state's attorney for Washington County; Shane Blankenship, a detective with Hagerstown Police Department; David Engle, director of Washington County Department of Social Services; Dr. Steve Kotch, director of emergency medicine at Washington County Hospital; Teresa Thorn, program manager of Safe Place, a child advocacy center; and Jane Abrams, executive director, Parent Works Program, New Cumberland, Pa.

The deadline to register is Tuesday, Jan. 22. The cost is $22 and includes lunch catered by Always Ron's. Make checks payable to Mid-Atlantic District Foundation.
