State Senator Yoder running for judge

January 17, 2008

State Senator John Yoder, R-Jefferson, filed today to run for a seat on the 23rd Judicial Circuit of West Virginia's trial court system.

"I have enjoyed serving the Eastern Panhandle in the State Senate, and I believe it has been a great experience, but (I) now look forward to returning to my roots in the judiciary," Yoder said in a written statement.

Yoder, 57, of Harpers Ferry, W.Va., started his career as a district court judge in Kansas in 1976. Yoder became a federal prosecutor in 1983. He served a four-year term as state senator in the 16th District, representing Berkeley, Morgan and Jefferson counties, from 1992 to 1996. Yoder began a second term in 2004. His term ends this year.
