Dairy association offers scholarship



The Maryland Dairy Industry Association, in an effort to keep the industry viable and competitive and to be proactive, has announced the association is offering its first scholarship.

The MDIA is accepting applications through Jan. 25.

Applicants must:

· Have MDIA membership for 2008 or be a dependent of a member.

· Be a graduating high school senior or be enrolled in a two- or four-year college.

The scholarship will be awarded directly to the college or university on the student's behalf.

Scholarship applications must be typed.

Membership to the Maryland Dairy Industry Association for 2008 is still open.

Some Pa. students eligible for award



GREENCASTLE, Pa. - Mountain View Reclamation and Waste Management of Pennsylvania, in cooperation with the Citizens Advisory Committee of Antrim and Montgomery townships, invites high school seniors who are residents of the Greencastle-Antrim School District or Montgomery Township to apply for a one-time scholarship award.

A maximum of $5,000 for students from each area has been reserved for this scholarship.

A total of $5,000 in scholarship money will be distributed to high school seniors from Greencastle-Antrim School District and $5,000 in scholarship money will be distributed to high school seniors from Montgomery Township. The number of awards, and the amount of the individual scholarship award, will be decided by a selection committee.

All high school seniors who are residents of the Greencastle-Antrim School District or of Montgomery Township, regardless of the school they attend, are eligible for consideration.

Recipients may use this scholarship to fund any type of post-secondary study, including one post-secondary course (to include technical and vocational programs), a two-year program or a traditional four-year program.

All materials, including personal recommendations, must be postmarked no later than April 4.

The announcement of the scholarship recipients will be made at the awards assemblies at the end of the school year.
