Pa. woman charged with writing bad checks to Cub Scouts

NEEDMORE, Pa. ? A Mercersburg, Pa., woman has been charged with writing a bad check to Cub Scouts in Needmore, Pa., a press release from Pennsylvania State Police said.

Michelle Lynn Rank, 31, Mercersburg, was charged with writing Cub Scout Pack 45 a bad check for $60, the release said. The incident occurred July 17.

The charges were filed at District Court in Fulton County.

Frederick men face drug charges after traffic stop

FREDERICK, Md. ? Two Frederick, Md., men were arrested during a traffic stop Thursday when authorities found suspected marijuana inside the vehicle, a press release from the Frederick County Sheriff's Office said.

Charles A. Moon, 22, and Andrew M. Lombardo, 18, were stopped on Crestwood Boulevard after a deputy observed the vehicle fail to obey several traffic control devices, the release said. The suspected marijuana was found after a search of the vehicle.


Moon and Lombardo were taken to the Frederick County Adult Detention Center's Central Booking Unit for processing, the release said.

Three injured in Berkeley County crash

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. ? Three people were flown to area medical centers Thursday after the vehicle in which they were riding crashed into a telephone pole off Grade Road in northern Berkeley County, police and emergency officials said.

The names or ages of the victims were not available Thursday night, according to Sheriff W. Randy Smith, who said he was told they had "major" injuries.

Emergency responders found the people trapped in the vehicle in the 3200 block of Grade Road after being dispatched at 12:17 p.m., according to Smith and Bedington Volunteer Fire Department Assistant Chief Andrew DeHaven.

Smith and DeHaven said the victims were flown to different hospitals by two helicopters, which landed at a trucking business off U.S. 11. Grade Road connects to U.S. 11 between the towns of Falling Waters and Marlowe, W.Va.

Three face charges of prostitution in Chambersburg

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. ? Three women were arrested Thursday after they allegedly made sexual solicitations toward undercover troopers at spas on Lincoln Way East in Chambersburg, Pennsylvania State Police said in a news release.

Hye Ja Hughes, 39; Sun Young Gu, 39; and Sun O. Bellina, 51, were charged with prostitution and related offenses, police said.

The vice/narcotics unit investigation was the second conducted in two years at the two spas, Stress Away at 1337 Lincoln Way East and Friendly Evergreen Spa at 1404 Lincoln Way East, police said.

The unit had obtained search warrants for both businesses, police said.

SUV stolen from driveway in Pa.

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. ? Troopers on Thursday were investigating the theft of a motor vehicle from a driveway in the 900 block of Lincoln Terrace in Guilford Township, Pa., Pennsylvania State Police said.

The 2005 gold GMC Envoy was taken Tuesday, troopers said in a news release.

Police: Boy stabbed family member in leg

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. ? Troopers on Thursday were investigating an assault by a 13-year-old boy who stabbed one of his family members in the leg with a fingernail clipper, Pennsylvania State Police said.

He also threatened to stab another victim and threatened to kill a third family member, troopers alleged in a news release.

Gun stolen from home in Fulton County

McCONNELLSBURG, Pa. ? Troopers on Thursday were investigating the theft of a gun from a home on Waterfall Road in Hustontown, Pa., Pennsylvania State Police said.

The $600 gun was stolen between December 2006 and November 2007, troopers said in a news release.

Man with gun steals Frederick woman's purse

FREDERICK, Md. ? A man with a gun stole a woman's purse as she was walking into her home early Tuesday, according to a Frederick County Sheriff's Department press release.

The 25-year-old victim was walking from her vehicle in the 5000 block of Earls Court about 12:25 a.m. when the man approached her, showing a handgun and making threats, deputies said.

The man stole her purse and fled, deputies said.

Three sought in vehicle break-ins in Frederick

FREDERICK, Md. ? The Frederick County Sheriff's Department is searching for three people suspected of breaking into cars in school parking lots and using stolen credit cards at Wal-Mart, the department said in a press release.

The thefts occurred Nov. 28 between 8 a.m. and 1 p.m. in the parking lots of Valley Elementary School and Oakdale Elementary School, deputies said.

In both cases, thieves forced entry through a window and stole a purse, deputies said. The thieves then used the victims' credit cards at the Wal-Mart on Guilford Drive, deputies said.

Criminal investigators have surveillance photos of the suspects and their vehicle, the department said.
