Contract for scrap-tire recycling in Washington County OK'd

The Washington County Commissioners on Tuesday awarded a low-bid contract to a Glen Burnie, Md., company to haul scrap tires for recycling from Forty West Landfill.

The Dirt Express Co. was awarded the one-year contract for its bid of $23,025.

The company's bid was the lowest of three received by the county. East Coast Resources of Richmond, Va., bid $34,340.64 for the contract. Emanuel Tire Co. of Baltimore bid $54,000.

The commissioners approved the contract unanimously.
