Helga Black, 63



MAY 4, 1944-JAN. 3, 2008

WILLIAMSPORT - Helga Black, 63, of Williamsport, died Thursday, Jan. 3, 2008, at Washington County Hospital.

Born May 4, 1944, in Germany, she was the daughter of George A. and Hildegard Fitz of Williamsport.

She was employed as a beautician for The Bon-Ton, Valley Mall.

She was a member of Gateway Ministries in Williamsport.

She was preceded in death by one son, Michael T. Black.

Memorial services will be Tuesday, Jan. 15, at 7 p.m. at Gateway Ministries. Pastor Alan Greijack will officiate. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Park, Williamsport, at the convenience of the family.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to John R. Marsh Cancer Center, 11110 Medical Campus Road, Hagerstown, MD 21742; or to Gateway Ministries, P.O. Box 590, Williamsport, MD 21795.

Gerald G. Rankin, 63

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - Gerald Glenn Rankin, 63, of Martinsburg, died Sunday, Jan. 6, 2008, at Winchester (Va.) Medical Center.

Born May 23, 1944, in Jefferson County, W.Va., he was the son of the late Joseph and Genieve Rankin.

He was employed by Kmart in Martinsburg.

He attended Living Waters Family Worship Center in Martinsburg.

He is survived by his wife, Sharon Rankin; one daughter, Jeanie Riley of Martinsburg; one son, Gerald Rankin Jr.; three stepchildren; three brothers, Lewis Rankin of Martinsburg, Warren Rankin of Winchester and Wayne Rankin of Charles Town, W.Va.; and 14 grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one daughter, Carol Price, and one sister, Patsy Rankin.

Services will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Rosedale Funeral Home, Martinsburg. Pastors Mike Manning and John Miller will officiate. Burial will follow in Rosedale Cemetery.

Visitation will be Wednesday one hour prior to the services at the funeral home.




Martha M. Brevard, 72



MARCH 8, 1935-JAN. 7, 2008

WAYNESBORO, Pa. - Martha M. McMinn Brevard, 72, of 12125 Country Club Road, died Monday, Jan. 7, 2008, at Community Hospice of Washington, D.C.

Born March 8, 1935, in Mississippi, she was the daughter of the late James T. and Letha C. Carr McMinn.

She was a 1953 graduate of Ackerman (Miss.) High School. She graduated from the Mississippi University for Women, Columbus, Miss., in 1957, with a bachelor's degree in music education.

She was a homemaker and following her husband's retirement, they worked in real estate together.

She was a member of Blue Ridge Summit (Pa.) Garden Club and Waynesboro Country Club.

She is survived by her husband of more than 48 years, William N. "Nick" Brevard.

Services will be Thursday at 2 p.m. at Grove-Bowersox Funeral Home, Waynesboro. The Rev. John Ile will officiate. Burial will be later in Ackerman Cemetery, Ackerman.

The family will receive friends Thursday one hour prior to the services at the funeral home.

Joseph B. Hasenbuhler, 89



APRIL 10, 1918-JAN. 6, 2008

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - Joseph Bernard Hasenbuhler, 89, of Martinsburg, died Sunday, Jan. 6, 2008, at Heartland of Martinsburg.

Born April 10, 1918, in Morgan County, W.Va., he was the son of the late William Hasenbuhler and Agnes Tritapoe Hasenbuhler.

He was a teacher for the West Virginia school system.

He was a past member of the First United Methodist Church in Berkeley Springs, W.Va.

He was a former Scout leader of Boy Scouts of America Troop 12 of Berkeley Springs and a member of the Berkeley Springs Fire Department.

He is survived by several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by one sister, Mildred Hasenbuhler, and two brothers, Harold Hasenbuhler and Charles Hasenbuhler.

A graveside service will be Monday at 1 p.m. at Greenway Cemetery. The Rev. Andrew Cooney will officiate. Burial will be in Greenway Cemetery.

Arrangements are by Hunter-Anderson Funeral Home.




Todd D. Nails, 33

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - Todd Dean Nails, 33, of Martinsburg, died Saturday, Jan. 5, 2008, at his home.

Born May 3, 1974, in Martinsburg, he was the son of Dennis C. Nails of Martinsburg and the late Nora L. Nails.

He was employed at Quebecor Printing.

In addition to his father, he is survived by his wife, Paula M. Nails; two daughters, Jami Nails and Summer Nails, both of Hedgesville, W.Va.; one brother, Troy D. Nails of Hedgesville; and four nieces.

Services will be Wednesday at 8 p.m. at Rosedale Funeral Home, Martinsburg. The Rev. Max Silver will officiate.

Visitation will be Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.




Edward C. Kercheval, 79



APRIL 30, 1928-JAN. 6, 2008

Mr. Edward C. Kercheval, 79, of 20423 Holt Circle, Hagerstown, Md., died Sunday, Jan. 6, 2008, in his home. He had been in failing health since July 2007, and critically ill for the past several weeks.

Born April 30, 1928, in Waynesboro, Pa., he was the son of the late James Franklin and Jane (Craig) Kercheval. He spent his early life in Waynesboro.
