Hedgesville football job still vacant

January 08, 2008|By MARK KELLER

Hedgesville High School has received 16 applications for its vacant varsity football head coaching position, principal Don Dellinger said Monday.

The job was posted in December following the resignation of David Lopez, who held the position for nine years. Dellinger said the deadline to apply is Jan. 14.

Dellinger said the school is in the process of setting up interviews with those who already have applied. An interview group from the school will recommend a candidate to Berkeley County Schools Superintendent Manny Arvon, who then makes a recommendation to the Board of Education.

"In a perfect world, there's a board meeting on Jan. 21 and I'd like to have a name submitted to them by that time," Dellinger said.
