Rail Jam

MERCERSBURG, Pa. - Skiers and snowboarders will use a variety of rails to perform tricks. 11 a.m. Saturday. Whitetail Resort, 13805 Blairs Valley Road, north of Clear Spring and southwest of Mercersburg. $10 to participate, discounted lift tickets will be available for participants. Spectators are welcome but will need to sign a release stating Whitetail is not liable if they get hurt hiking up to the rail jam site. 5 for 50 benefit concert

SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. - Saturday's benefit concert will feature Steadfast Praise Band at 6 p.m., Potty Skippen: Snowman, Leonard and Werd at 7 p.m., and March 'til Morning at 8 p.m. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. Covenant Bible Church. $5 admission. All proceeds benefit 5 for 50. Bottled water will be sold for $1 to benefit a series of South African orphanages.




Model railroad open house

WAYNESBORO, Pa. - Waynesboro Model Railroad Club will hold an open house. The club features large layouts with scenery and trains for all ages. New this year are a viewing platform, Thomas the Tank Engine layouts for young children, new scenic features on all of the layouts, and the running of the new Lionel Harry Potter Hogwarts Express. Various model train and toy items will be for sale. Two new layouts will be raffled along with an O-scale freight train. 1 to 5 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays, Jan. 5 and 6, Jan. 19 and 20, and Jan. 26 and 27. Dates for snow/ice closings are Feb. 2 and 3.
