Accidents slowing traffic on I-70

December 31, 2007

Early morning accidents on Interstate 70 in Frederick County were still causing motorists delays Monday afternoon, according to police and emergency personnel.

An accident in the westbound lanes at Bill Moxley Road shut down that section of the interstate until early afternoon. Maryland State Police in Frederick said those lanes reopened at 2 p.m.

Motorists also reported a lengthy backup in the eastbound lanes which a Frederick County Sheriff's office spokesman said might have been related to the cleanup of the earlier accident.

U.S. 15 ? closed earlier Monday because of a fatal accident on a bridge ? was reopened to traffic shortly after 10 a.m., according to Frederick State Police.
