CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Mary Ellen and Earl Wisler, employees of Furniture Market and Schier's Furniture, were presented with engraved awards for their 10 years of service to the company.
The Wislers, of the Waynesboro, Pa.-area, each received an award as tribute for their diligence in maintaining the upkeep of both Furniture Market and Schier's retail stores, according to a prepared release.

GREENCASTLE, Pa. - Don Bowers, CFS, recently participated in the National Association of Tax Professionals Annual 1040 Tax Workshop.
The workshop is an annual update and review of tax changes for the upcoming tax filing season.
Bowers is the owner of Don Bowers Financial Services in Greencastle, Pa. He is a member of the NATP and an investment representative with H.D.Vest Investment Services, a nonbank subsidiary of Wells Fargo & Co.
EDC
The Washington County Commissioners recently authorized the Hagerstown-Washington County Economic Development Commission (EDC) to hire Sarah J. Lankford as the EDC's marketing specialist. She is to assume her new duties on Jan. 7.
As marketing specialist, Lankford will have the primary responsibility of developing, organizing and implementing marketing plans and programs to encourage business and industry relocation, retention and expansion.
She will provide marketing support to business development activities and will be responsible for the EDC's communication and public relations functions.
She had been working as director of Marketing and Admissions at Heartland of Martinsburg, a HCR Manor Care facility. She has overall responsibility for revenue generating activities, marketing and community outreach programs.
Lankford, of Funkstown, graduated from Robert Morris University with a business administration degree and is pursuing her MBA at Frostburg State University in Hagerstown.

MIDDLETOWN, Md. - The Mlend mortgage company said November's top producer in the Middletown retail operation was Darren Ferlisi.

WorthPoint Corporation, a Reston, Va.-based online resource for collectors, has named Thom Pattie of Hagerstown its vice president and senior worthologist.
Pattie has worked in the appraisal, antiques and auction industries for 40 years. He has managed multiple regional auction houses and has performed onsite appraisals across the United States for international auction houses.
Pattie has taught college courses on appraising antiques, has been a licensed auctioneer for 35 years, is a qualified expert witness in his field and is a member of the National Auctioneers Association and the Virginia Auctioneers Association.
