Smithsburg Scout, friends undertake Eagle project at barn

December 28, 2007

SMITHSBURG - Eagle projects are the last requirement needed for a Boy Scout to attain the highest rank in Scouting.

Recently, Jesse Thompson of Troop 14, Smithsburg, began taking down a barn on the property at Allison Antrim Museum in Greencastle, Pa.

The project consists of tearing down the structure, removing the salvable wood, storing the wood in a dry building and cleaning up the debris.

After the work is completed, a tree will be planted in the area, as well as several small shrubs.

Troop 14 is sponsored by the Smithsburg Lions Club.
