How did you get into your business, or what motivated you to start it?: "In 1983, I suddenly developed a paralysis called Bell's palsy on the left side of my face. My physician said there was little that he could do to help me, so he referred me to an acupuncturist. Within a few treatments, I began to get some movement back in the affected side of my face.

"I continued treatment until fully recovered. I became fascinated as to how and why this medical procedure worked. I asked questions, but my acupuncturist was from China and barely spoke English. My curiosity peaked and I enrolled in an acupuncture program in 1984 to have my questions answered.

"I have been an acupuncturist since 1990 and have seen many inspiring recoveries like my own. My medical acupuncture practice addresses many types of health problems including chronic back pain, sciatica, knee pain due to arthritis, rotator-cuff (shoulder) pain and immobility, carpal tunnel and tendonitis."

She said she offers free consultations.

Previous business experience: "I have worked in general medicine and rehabilitative care. I am also a registered nurse, working in orthopaedics at Winchester Medical Center.
