San Mar Children's Home

BOONSBORO - Ann Shilling-Gwinnutt, of Smithsburg, has been named Residential Services director at San Mar Children's Home near Boonsboro.

Certified as a secondary teacher in Maryland, Shilling-Gwinnutt holds a master's degree in instructional systems development from the University of Maryland and a bachelor's degree in social work from Texas Lutheran College.

Shilling-Gwinnutt joined San Mar Children's Home in 2006 as program director of the Dr. Henry F. and Florence Hill Graff Shelter, which provides safe haven for adolescent girls.

Olive Garden

Olive Garden Italian Restaurant has appointed Jason Rakaczewski of Greencastle, Pa., general manager of the new restaurant at 17410 Valley Mall Road in Hagerstown.


Rakaczewski has 11 years of restaurant experience, including five with Olive Garden. He most recently served as culinary manager of the Olive Garden in Scranton, Pa.

He has an associate degree in art and science from Allegany College of Maryland in Cumberland.

Rakaczewski is among more than 600 managers who have trained at Olive Garden's Culinary Institute of Tuscany.

Advanced Chiropractic

WAYNESBORO, Pa. - Lynn Foley and Rebecca Knott have joined the staff of Advanced Chiropractic Foot & Ankle Care in Waynesboro.

Foley, of Waynesboro, is a graduate of Stockton University in Pomona, N.J., and is working toward a certificate in medical office practices, billing and management. She previously worked for an insurance company.

Knott, of Mont Alto, Pa., is a graduate of Hagerstown Business College and has three years of medical billing and coding experience. She holds certification in medical billing and coding.

RE/MAX Achievers

Agents Charlotte Ashton and Sandy Snyder have joined the staff of RE/MAX Achievers of Hagerstown.

Ashton has been a licensed agent in Maryland for more than 10 years and also is licensed in West Virginia and Pennsylvania.

She is a graduate of the Realtor Institute.

Snyder, of Washington County, has been a licensed agent in Maryland for seven years and is an associate broker in Maryland, West Virginia and Pennsylvania.

RE/MAX Achievers has announced that the following agents were Top Agents for November.

Alice J. Guy was Top Agent with Commission; Violet Z. Schmid was Top Agent with New Sales; Lillie McHale was Top Agent with New Listings; Top Team with Commissions, New Sales and New Listings was The Powell Team, consisting of Steven J. Powell, Stephenie Rinehart and Lisa Zeger.


The Maryland Correctional Institution-Hagerstown recognized Susan Trainor, correctional officer sergeant, as Employee of the Month for her efforts as audit coordinator.

Trainor diligently took on the task of organizing and updating all of the paperwork and files associated with the audit process, according to a prepared release.

Trainor has been employed by the State of Maryland since 2000.


Patricia Younker, office secretary III, was named the Roxbury Correctional Institution's Employee of the Month for December.

During the summer, she functioned as the sole secretary for the administration of RCI, according to a prepared release.

During that time, she maintained the high volume of paperwork, ensuring that all deadlines were met within time frames, as well as maintaining her normal duties.
