Art expert researches Renaissance works

Washington County Museum of Fine Arts was awarded a Kress Foundation Curatorial Fellowship for 2007-08. With these grant funds, the museum hired Leopoldine van Hogendrop Prosperetti to conduct research on the old master collection.

Prosperetti will speak about the collection at a series of brown bag lunches in February.

Civil War march set

SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. - Shippensburg will commemorate its place in Civil War history at the sixth annual March to Destiny in summer 2008.

The Civil War encampment and re-enactment event will be held Friday, June 27, through Sunday, June 29, in downtown Shippensburg. The weekend will include re-creations of battles, living history demonstrations, a period wedding and much more.

Soldiers, civilians and sutlers will be present to reveal how Shippensburg looked as a Civil War town during a full schedule of events and living history demonstrations in the re-enactor camps where visitors will find a glimpse of the past in events, presentations as well as the use of period clothing and examples of daily life during the Civil War.
