The Semlers, the Semlers and the Rectors celebrate combined 100 years of marriage

A surprise party was held Friday, July 13, 2007, at Clear Spring American Legion honoring the 50th anniversary of Joseph and Darlene Semler; and the 25th anniversaries of their daughter and son-in-law, Lucinda and Rodney Rector; and son and daughter-in-law, Jeffery and Kerri Semler. Thus, the 100 years of marriage in one family. The party was hosted by their youngest daughter and her husband, Amy and Lonnie Hendershot along with their five grandchildren.

Joseph and Darlene Semler were married Sept. 14, 1957, at Grace United Methodist Church in Hagerstown by the Rev. Earl Redding, now deceased. Mr. Semler is the son of the late Ida Mae and Harry Semler. He has retired from Pangborn Corp. Mrs. Semler is the daughter of the late Isabelle and Samuel McCleary. She is a homemaker.

Lucinda and Rodney Rector were married June 5, 1982, at St. Andrew's Episcopal Church in Clear Spring by Cannon David Trimble, now deceased. Mrs. Rector works for Washington County Board of Education. Mr. Rector is the son of Donald and Neshia Rector. He is self-employed.

Jeffery and Kerri Semler were married Nov. 20, 1982, at St. John's Episcopal Church in Hagerstown by Trimble. Mr. Semler is employed by University of Maryland Cooperative Extension Service. Mrs. Semler is the daughter of Jerry and Kay Strange. She is employed by Lenox Corp.
