Weekend services at Tri-State area houses of worship

St. John's Episcopal Church, the Rev. Stephanie Yancy will preach at the 8 a.m. communion service this Sunday. At the 10:15 a.m. service, a Festival of Advent Lessons and Carols will be presented by the parish and youth choirs. Communion will also be celebrated.

Sunday school classes for all ages begin at 9 a.m. including an adult forum led by Yancy.

St. Mark's Lutheran Church, this Sunday there will be chapel communion at 8:15 a.m., Sunday school at 9:15 a.m. and the Sunday school Christmas program at 10:30 a.m.

The sermon is Emmanuel, God With Us. There will be communion for shut-ins at 2 p.m.

Trinity Lutheran Church, Hagerstown, Pastor Philip Fogarty will preach at the 8 and 11 a.m. services this Sunday on the topic, The Unexpected One. Pastor Torben Aarsand will be celebrant.

The 8:45 a.m. contemporary service is in Fellowship Hall. Confirmation and Sunday school classes begin at 10 a.m.

St. Catherine Eastern Orthodox Church, vespers are tonight at 6:30.

Father Dennis Buck will speak at the 10 a.m. Divine Liturgy this Sunday. Church school is at 11:30 a.m.

Christ Reformed UCC in Cavetown, Pastor Carol Hallman will be speaking this Sunday on the topic, Coming Home for Christmas: The Loving Place, at the 10:30 a.m. service.

Calvary United Methodist Church, Martinsburg, W.Va., Pastor Al Clipp will bring the message this Sunday at 8:30 a.m. on the topic, The Joy of Interruptions. The cantata, On This Very Night, will be presented by the chancel choir.

Calvary Grace Brethren Church, a Christmas program and birthday party for Jesus will be at the 10:30 a.m. service this Sunday.

Pikeside United Methodist Church, Paynes Ford Road and U.S. 11, Martinsburg, W.Va., the Rev. Thomas Young Jr. is speaking on the topic, O Come Emmanuel, at the 8:30 and 10:35 a.m. services this Sunday.

Church of the Holy Trinity UCC, Halfway, the Rev. Timothy Leighton will be speaking during the 10:45 a.m. service this Sunday. The topic is Christmas on an Elevator.

Sunday school for adults begins at 9:30 a.m. Children's Sunday school is at 10:45 a.m. Fellowship and refreshments follow the service.

Mountain View Baptist Church, 12107 Walnut Point Road, Hagerstown, the children's Christmas program will be this Sunday at 7 p.m.

Wednesday night services begin at 7.

New Beginnings Community Church, corner of Dual Highway and Beaver Creek Road, Hagerstown, Pastor Mark Snyder will be speaking this Sunday at the 11 a.m. worship service on the topic, How God Does Christmas. Beth Harrison will bring music.

The topic is Miracles for Wednesday at 7 p.m.

Emmanuel Baptist Temple, 16221 National Pike, Hagerstown, Pastor Larry Aikens will be speaking at the 8:30 and 11 a.m. services this Sunday on the topic, Walking with the Wise Men.

At 6 p.m. Aikens will speak on the Light of Christmas. Communion will be celebrated.

Sunday school is at 9:45 a.m.

Teen and master clubs groups meet at 7 p.m. Wednesday. Bible study and prayer meeting are also at 7 p.m.

Zion Lutheran Church, Williamsport, Pastor Greg Martin will be preaching this Sunday on the topic, For This He Was Born, at the 8:15 and 10:45 a.m. services.

Sunday school for all ages is 9:30 a.m. The sanctuary will be decorated following the services.
