About 3,000 lose electricity in Franklin County this morning

December 19, 2007

About 3,000 Allegheny Power customers in Franklin County, Pa., were without electricity for part of Wednesday morning because of an equipment failure, Allegheny spokesman Todd Meyers said.

A bank of transformers at a substation near Chambersburg tripped off because of a faulty temperature gauge, Meyers said in a voice-mail message.

The outage, which affected customers in Chambersburg, Scotland and Fayetteville, lasted from about 10:45 to 11:30 a.m., Meyers said.
