Discovery Station in Hagerstown hosting holiday event

December 18, 2007

Holiday at Discovery Station will be Wednesday from 5 to 7 p.m. at Discovery Station, 101 W. Washington St.

Wally McClure will be playing the piano, and food and beverages will be available.

Discovery Station is honoring Jack Garrott, who will officially unveil his PT-19 flying model. This creation took hundreds of hours for Garrott to build.

He flew the Fairchild-built PT-19 in World War II, and wanted to build and donate a model of the famous Hagerstown-built plane to the Discovery Station Museum. The model has a 7-foot wingspan and has actually flown.

For reservations to Wednesday's event, call 301-790-0076. The model will be on permanent display starting this week.
