One appointed, one re-elected

HANCOCK - Hancock Town Manager David Smith has been appointed to the Tri-County Council, Mayor Daniel A. Murphy announced Wednesday night at the Hancock Town Council's monthly meeting.

The council, made up of representatives from the three westernmost Maryland counties, meets quarterly, Murphy said.

Debbie Murphy, chairwoman of the Hancock Parks Committee, also was re-elected as chairwoman of the Washington County Parks and Recreation Board, Daniel Murphy said.

Free leaf pickup set for Dec. 17 to 19

HANCOCK - Town workers will pick up leaves free Dec. 17 to 19 if citizens call into the town office by Friday, Town Manager David Smith said Wednesday night at the Hancock Town Council meeting.


Larger items can be picked up for a small fee, Smith said.

Residents can call the town office at 301-678-5622.

Park sign vandalized with spray paint

HANCOCK - A sign recently erected at the Joseph Hancock Jr. Park was vandalized, Mayor Daniel A. Murphy said Wednesday night at the Hancock Town Council meeting.

Someone spray painted the sign, Murphy said.
