Get wrapped up

Looking for a unique way to present your special gift? Look no further! Here are seven ways to make your gift look spectacular.

1. Stuff toilet paper tubes or paper towel tubes with all kinds of small goodies (hair ties, lip gloss, candy, etc.), then cover in wrapping paper, careful to leave excess paper on either end. Tie ribbon around each end to complete.

2. Start with plain brown wrapping paper and decorate with pictures, magazine clippings, artwork, stamps and stickers. Have fun making this one-of-a-kind wrapping paper.

3. Use hair scarves as bows to spice up your gifts! Plus, the receiver can reuse this kind of bow.

4. Want to cut down on wrapping paper waste? Try this: Use scraps of cloth (available at a fabric store on a remnant shelf) tied neatly around your present.

5. Buy a cheap basket (from those stores) and fill it with all kinds of fun little gifts. Consider a theme, such as personal care products (soaps, lotions, cosmetics and so on). Be sure to decorate with bows and ribbons.

6. Buy a big, cheap, colorful, plastic bucket (at Wal-Mart, Target or a similar store) and fill it with microwave popcorn, jumbo packs of candy (sold at the same stores), and a movie rental gift certificate. Personalize the bucket with permanent marker.

7. Do you have plain brown or white shopping bags just laying around, serving no purpose? Try decorating them with old Christmas cards, scraps of wrapping paper and, of course, your own artwork.
