Albright Crumbacker Moul & Itell

Jodi L. Sines, CPA, has ben promoted to manager of tax and accounting services at Albright Crumbacker Moul & Itell LLC, CPA's.

Sines, of Hag-erstown, has been with ACM&I since 1995.

· Also, Jullie A. Caniford, CPA, has been promoted to supervisor of tax and acounting services.

Caniford, of Falling Waters, W.Va., has been with the company since 2002.

· Paul M. Cunningham, CPA, has successfully completed the certification process with the National Association of Certified Valuation Analysts to earn his designation of certified valuation analyst (CVA).

Cunningham, of Martinsburg, W.Va., has been with ACM&I since 2002.

Monumental Life Insurance Company

Sales Manager Christopher N. Barbuzanes recently was awarded Monumental Life Insurance Company's Chairman's Round Table Medallion by Regional Vice President Sammy Woodruff.


The medallion is given to agents and managers who qualify for 10 or more conferences during their careers with the company.

Washington County Health Department

Bobbi Vidas has been chosen the Washington County Health Department's Employee of the Month for October.

Vidas began working at the Health Department in 2004 in the Communicable Disease section of the Nursing Division.

As a certified medicine technician, a certified community nursing assistant and a trained phlebotomist, she provides services through a number of Health Department clinics.

Those clinics include those dealing with sexually transmitted infections, family planning, adult and childhood immunizations, refugee health and chest (tuberculosis) clinic.

Prudential Franklin Associates

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Prudential Franklin Associates, Realtors, has named real estate agents Ed Garman and Troy Garman, both in Chambersburg, as top agents for October.

The Garmans are multi-million dollar producers and have secured national awards for annual sales from Prudential Real Estate.

Prior to devoting himself full time to real estate sales during the past 2 1/2 years, Ed Garman served as sales manager for Prudential Realtors.

Hagerstown YMCA

Sonia Reyes and Sharee O'Haver, of the Hagerstown YMCA at 1100 Eastern Blvd. North, have completed the instructor certification for Zumba Fitness.

The Zumba Latin-inspired international music and dance steps create a fitness system that is available at the Hagerstown YMCA.

Hersh Business Services

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - Brett Hersh, of Hersh Business Services, attended a seminar that covered changes in the 2007 tax code and factors complicating individual taxation.

The seminar topics included changes in record keeping necessary for deducting charitable contributions, consequences of Congress not implementing changes to the alternative minimum tax for 2007, and the impact of foreclosures and related debt forgiveness on individual taxpayers.

The seminar, held Nov. 15-16 in Springfield, Va., was conducted by the National Center for Professional Education.

As an enrolled agent, Hersh receives 36 hours of continuing education annually on topics exclusive to individual and business taxation. Enrolled agents are licensed by the U.S. Department of Treasury and specialize in taxation.

Ferris, Baker Watts

Brendan Fitzsimmons, senior vice president and branch manager at Ferris, Baker Watts' Hagerstown office, was recognized by On Wall Street magazine as one of the top investment professionals under the age of 40.

In compiling the 40 Under 40 list, the magazine identified those under 40 who had the most assets under management.

The magazine selected registered representatives from the five national wirehouses and 10 of the largest regional firms, which included Ferris, Baker Watts Inc.

Fitzsimmons, of Hagers-town, joined Ferris, Baker Watts in 1999. He received his undergraduate degree from Swarthmore College and holds a master's degree from The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

He and his partner, John Hershey III, formed the Hershey-Fitzsimmons Group in 2000.

Joe Hovermill

Joe Hovermill, of Baltimore, and formerly of Washington County, in October was appointed to head the Miles and Stockbridge Mass Torts Practice Group.

Also in October, Hovermill received The Baltimore Business Journal's 40 Under 40 award for emerging business leaders.

The annual award recognizes the business success and community contributions of 40 Baltimore-area business professionals under the age of 40.


Rick Kandrick, of Maaco Collision and Repair and Auto Painting in Hagers-town, received the Million Dollar Center award during Maaco's Measure of Success convention in Palm Beach, Fla., Oct 17-21.

The program featured a road map of the chain's direction, including its growing fleet business and new direct repair relationships with major insurance companies.

Two local women were named lia sophia Excellent Beginners Program Achievers for their sales accomplishments and professionalism.

Stephanie Harvey of Hagerstown and Anne Shubert of Smithsburg earned the designation in their first 15 weeks of working with the fashion jewelry company.
